Manufacture Royale was reborn in 2010 with the goal of reviving the pioneering spirit first imbued in the original ‘Manufacture Royale des Montres de Ferney’ in 1770, by its founder, Voltaire. Now, seven years later, the brand is introducing a new watch called the Manufacture Royale ADN that also happens to be equipped with their ninth in-house caliber.
The name is the French version of DNA. The watch comes in a 46mm wide case that is a blend of Manufacture Royale’s Opera and Androgyne cases. The case alone consists of 67 components, and allows for a variety of material and color combinations.
Manufacture Royale ADN
The principal display at the top of the dial shows local time, by means of a disc with a window that jumps from one hour to the next – the hour numerals are conventionally positioned, but only one numeral is visible at any one time. There is a single conventional sword-shaped minute hand. The home time or second time zone is shown on a smaller dial at bottom right. At 12 o’clock we see the local time, with the minutes displayed traditionally using a 60-minute dial, while at 4 o’clock we notice a small sub-dial that shows the home time. But the focal piece might be the one-minute flying tourbillon, which sits at 7 o’clock and will easily grab anyone’s attention.
Manufacture Royale ADN
The Manufacture Royale AND is available in steel, DLC-steel and forged carbon or pink gold and forged carbon. It comes on a soft rubber strap (black or red) with folding buckle.
Manufacture Royale ADN in stainless steel is priced at 86,000 CHF, while the model in DLC and forged carbon is 93,000 CHF. Finally, the rose gold and forged carbon model is 111,000 CHF.
