Prince’s guitar has been auctioned for $700,000, the highest price ever for a guitar of artist who suddenly passed away last year, Julien’s Auctions said.
The blue teal “Cloud” guitar was estimated at between $60,000 and $80,000 at an auction held on Saturday night, but sold for more than expected, said the auction house.
At the same auction, Michael Jackson’s black and white gloves sold for $102,000, as well as his snake leather jacket, which the pop artist wore in the video clip “Beat It”. This jacket went for $118,000.
A MTV Video Music Award Moonman won by Kurt Cobain went for $62,500; a Nehru shirt worn by Jimmy Hendrix sold for $106,000, and handwritten lyrics to David Bowie’s “Starman” was sold for $81,000.
