On December 4, Lamborghini will present its SUV under the name Urus, and two days later, their first LM002 will be sold at auction.
RM Sotheby’s auction will be held in New York, and the Lamborghini LM002 in perfect condition could reach between $400,000 and $500,000. That amount is about twice that of Lamborghini’s request for the new Urus.
The LM002 model was produced in a series of only 301 copies in the period from 1986 to 1993, and only 48 were intended for the US market. One of them, which was produced in 1990, will be sold at the auction.
The car is in perfect condition, and just recently a restoration has been completed. The LM002 now has the new Pirelli Scorpion tires, and has also received a more modern Alpine stereo with Bluetooth support. The car comes with an original set of tools, as well as instructions.
The LM002 was Lamborghini’s attempt to get a contract for the production of military vehicles. There was no success, and the company subsequently decided to adapt it to a commercial product.
It is powered by the Countach V12 engine and has a four-wheel drive system with three self-locking differentials. The LM002 is one of the first luxury SUV’s of high performance.
Urus will mark the return of Lamborghini to this segment, it will be luxurious, and will have enviable off-road capabilities and performance. It will be powered by a 4.0 liter biturbo V8 engine with 650 hp. A plug-in hybrid version will appear later.
