When you see this, Starbucks’ $10 coffees will look ridiculously cheap. It’s called the Velvet Goldmine and is actually milkshake worth $500.
Featured in L.A.’s The Powder Room bar, this extraordinary drink is also expensive and fancy as well as the space in which it is served. Llocated in the heart of Hollywood in Los Angeles, Powder Room is known as a hotspot for celebrity clientele.
However, what makes this milkshake so special and worth $500 are of course ingridients, as well as fact that it takes the mixologist up to 40 minutes just to make it.
The creamy drink starts with a crystal goblet lined with Amedei Porcelina chocolate. The chocolate alone retails for $90 per pound.
Next, four scoops of English lavender and Tahitian vanilla organic ice cream, which costs $25 per pint and is made locally, are added to the shake. There’s all sorts of other nonsense, like caramelized bananas and imported Belgian chocolate truffles. But the true secret of excess here is the ounce of Remy Martin Louis 13 cognac. This retails at $3,200 a bottle.
In addition to the cognac, the drink also includes Bacardi Reserve Limitada rum, 15-year Drambuie whiskey and a selection of 15-year-old Speyside malt whiskeys.
And the finishing touch is a dusting of 24-karat edible gold flakes.
If you’re one of those who drinks one of these things, you’ll certainly appreciate a Waterford Crystal chalice Swarovski crystal cocktail ring as a “gift”.
