So far, the unknown startup company Ampere Motor has presented at the Los Angeles Auto Show a prototype of three-wheeler electric roadster that will, when launched in 2018, cost $9,900.
California is one of the world’s largest electric and hybrid car markets.
In that federal US state is the headquarters of the famous electric car manufacturer, Tesla, and Ampere Motor used this Auto Show held in the largest Californian city to present its electric car with the simple mark “1”.
Like Tesla’s latest model, which was introduced in mid-November, and Ampere 1 is a Roadster, but with 3 wheels and 20 times lower price.
The manufacturer states that it is a vehicle that is intended primarily for urban areas, but also is a car for a “weekend party”.
The vehicle is currently in the prototype stage, but the company claims 80% is ready for serial production.
Technical data on the electric motor and drive batteries have not been announced, but it has been said that the production version will have a driving autonomy of up to 160 km.
Ampere counts that it will attract enough customers at a relatively low price of the car and announces the serial model for 2018. Until then, the company is accepting pre-orders for $200 and says additional information will be released shortly.
