Last year, designer Sam Abdelrahman turned his passion for knives and product development into a fulltime business – HEA Deisigns. His latest creation is this striking folding knife which looks like it came from the future. The knife is called Wingman and it took over two years of design and iteration to get to what you see today. There were over fifty refinements in that time and over a dozen prototypes.
“I wanted to design something that looked like it could move at the speed of light. I’ve already designed a small blade and a big blade. The next one had to be a perfect mid-size. It had to go in a completely different direction, a new blade shape, a new way to look at an edc”
This knive preserves some features from the previous models such as hidden blade, thematic clip, lines that follow from handle to blade and back and two tone blades, but there are a ton of new features: full cutouts through the entire design, six dramatic grinds per blade, hidden hardware with a full-length milled spacer and 3D milled wrapped handle milling.
Priced at $329, Wingman is available in five base colors—gray, blue, gold, green, and bronze – with details like its pivot, screws, and clip rendered in a complementary second color. The custom pivot is decorated with the HEA Design logo on both sides. For some additional fun, HEA designed a limited edition, antiqued, copper, Wingman challenge coin! But here’s the thing, only 1 in every 3 boxes we send out will have the coin (each is engraved with numbers 1-100). But just like in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, you won’t know if your order came with a coin until you open it.
