One of the most desirable sports car of the pre war era – 1931 Bugatti Type 55 Roadster will be offered at Gooding & Company’s Scottsdale Auction being held January 19 and 20.
It’s one of only 38 examples in the world, complete with its original engine and chassis. It’s also the same car that debuted at the 1931 Paris Auto Show during the model’s reveal.
The item description indicates that the car formery belonged to Duke of La Tremoille, a member of one of the oldest families of France.
Bugatti Type 55 Roadster
The basis of the Roadster chassis is from Type 45 and Type 47 built for Grand Prix racing class. In motion Bugatti led an eight-axis compressor with two camshafts. The impact of the 2.3 liter unit 131 hp. It is combined with a four-speed mechanics from turer Type 49.
