La Mer de Glace has always drawn climbers from around the world, leaving them enchanted and impressed. Overlooking the Mer de Glace and the magnificent peak of the Dru, Terminal Neige Refuge du Montenvers Hotel offers some of the most scenic views in the world. Built in 1880 to accommodate the first mountaineers and travelers who came to visit the Mer de Glace, it displays a sober granite façade, dotted by many small windows.
This “Made in Mont Blanc” refuge has a delightfully outdated feel in its 20 rooms and suites. The original furniture has been preserved and re-used to give it new life. In the bedrooms, old wooden chimneys have been transformed into bookcases, bedside lamps replaced with miner’s lamps and leather travel trunks, brought back from journeys and expeditions of the past, turned into bedside tables.
In the bathrooms, the use of stone highlights the washbasins and retro bathroom fittings. There is absolutely everything you need to enjoy unique experiences with your family, friends or newly-found room-mate.
Serenity and gourmet pleasures in a unique setting at the Montenvers: enjoy the finest mountain cuisine prepared with regional products at Montenvers Restaurant; savor Alpine dishes comfortably seated inside the Panoramique Mer de Glace or on its sunny terrace.
At the Bar des Glaciers, succomb to sweet and savory snacks throughout the day.
The refuge is also a very popular location for events, parties and weddings and they do accept large group bookings for accommodation and food. In addition to this, there are many events on at this historical location throughout the year and specifically in the summer months.
