With the first days of the New Year, Bulgari unveiled a new addition to its emblematic Octo collection – Octo Tourbillon Sapphire, which celebrates the balance and beauty of the octagon. The case, unveiled with the Octo Roma line, is inspired by the motifs adorning the Basilica of Maxentius.
The 44mm-diameter watch features a sapphire case middle and a transparent case back.
It is made of titanium that has undergone a black diamond-like-carbon (DLC) treatment. The mechanical manual-winding flying tourbillon movement, Calibre BVL 206, beats at the heart of the watch.
There are 11 DLC-coated bridges adorned with blue bars serving as hour markers. The blue bars are made of a hi-tech luminescent material, enabling the watch to give off at night all the light it has received during the day.
The Octo Tourbillon Sapphire has a 64-hour power reserve, and is water-resistant to up to 50 metres. It comes on a rubber-lined black alligator leather strap with blue stitching, and a titanium folding clasp. The watch is limited to 50 pieces and is priced at HK$473,000.
