Mercedes-Benz officially unveiled its new, long and wider G class.
After numerous teasers and “leaks” of photographs, Mercedes finally discovered the look and details of its new G-Class. The German company claims that the latest version of the legendary SUV is more comfortable, more spacious and more capable on and off the road.
What is at first glance is that Mercedes’ designers did not significantly change the look of the longest present model.

G Class, also known as G Wagen, has been in sale almost in the same form since 1979, and last year there was a record number of registrations. The best-selling version is AMG G 63.
The latest model debuted yesterday at the Detroit Auto Show, and retained most of its key features, including door handles, exterior door hinges and a spare wheel mounted on the rear door.
However, the new G class is 53 mm longer, 121 mm wider, and the wheel arches and bumpers now look more like a part of the body itself.

The biggest changes occurred in the interior and undercarriage. In spite of modern technology, some details are taken from the previous model, such as front passenger lever, chrome locking buttons for differentials and the like.
Traditional analog dials are standard, but customers can also choose a digital display such as the one in E Class and S Class. It’s actually about two adjustable 12.3-inch high-resolution displays, which are placed next to each other on the instrument panel, and shows the most able of the SUV. It uses a rotating controller and a touchpad-style controller.
Thanks to the increase in dimensions, the interior of the new G class is more spacious. Passengers on the front and rear seats have more space for shoulders and elbows, while the legroom rear is enlarged by 150 mm.

Seats are designed to be even more comfortable and convenient, and it is also possible to get individually foldable rear seats as well as front seats with heater, cooling and massage function.
Thanks to the independent suspension, the SUV is more comfortable for road driving, as well as for off-road driving. Also, it is more raised from the ground than its predecessor.
G Class also has a well-known Dynamic Select system that allows you to choose different driving modes, such as Comfort, Sport, Eco and Individual. Adaptive shock absorbers are also available as an option, and they enable G-Mode to improve stability in off-road driving.

Among the options is the Burmester stereo with 16 speakers, as well as the Exclusive Interior Plus package that makes the interior even more luxurious.
The front light circuits have LED technology, and a number of security systems are available to the driver.
The G500 version is powered by a 4.0 liter V8 engine with two turbochargers, which develops 422hp and 610 Nm of torque, and is paired with the new 9G TRONIC gearbox.
Sales start in May, and the base version will cost slightly more than €107,000 in Germany.
