This year, Jaeger-LeCoultre celebrates the 50th anniversary of the original Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris timepiece from 1968, and especially for that occasion the Swiss watchmaker has created a tribute watch – Polaris 2018 and introduced it atat this year’s SIHH.
The new limited edition Polaris Memovox has a contemporary design of a Grande Maison classic created in 1968, and in steel punctuates the important moments of the active man’s life.
The Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox watch is equipped with a useful everyday function that is also emblematic of the Grande Maison: the alarm, indicated by a small triangle on a rotating disk in the center of the dial. Pull the crown at 2 o’clock and turn it counter-clockwise to rotate the disk and align the triangle with the desired time. To wind the mechanism, push back the crown and turn it clockwise.
The case-back of the new watch is closed to provide support for the hammer of the alarm mechanism. The case-back bears two engravings: a delicate stylized diving helmet, a nod to the original model that hid this same symbol inside its case; and a “50th anniversary” inscription to commemorate the date the Memovox Polaris timepiece was created in 1968.
Highly contemporary, the rubber strap accompanies the active man on his adventures without fear of humidity or dust.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox is available in a limited series of 1,000 editions.
