67-year-old pensioner Frank Rothwell spent 400 hours and £24,000 to turn his half a century old Land Rover Defender into a steam engine.
Most often, car enthusiasts deal with expensive car finishes to improve the performance of their vehicles, but this Briton spent a lot of time and money to make the Defender slower than ever.
The steam engine, namely, is able to accelerate the car to only 25 km/h, and before this change this terrain could reach between 65 and 80 km/h.
Why would anyone do something like this?
Because of grandchildren who love to ride in Steam Defender, says Rothwell, who admits that not everyone shares their enthusiasm for a car on coal. His wife, in fact, not at all thrilled with the idea.
