Behind the project of reincarnation of the legendary Stratos model, which Lancia once made primarily for participation in the World Rally Championship, are the companies Manifattura Automobili Torino and New Stratos Gbr.
And while in the automotive group FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) engaged in investing in the brands Alfa Romeo and Maserati, Lancia is practically abandoned to oblivion. The current production of one of the oldest and most well-known Italian automotive companies is reduced to the Ypsilon model sold exclusively in Italy, and if we recall all the successes of the Lancia in the Rally, it is difficult to find an adequate explanation for the decision made by FCA’s management structures.

However, after the concept version, which was the reincarnation of the legendary Stratos model, first introduced in 2010, from Manifattura Automobili Torino and New Stratos Gbr it is confirmed that it will make 25 copies of the new Stratos model, and its concept and numerous details will remarkably resemble the original two-seater Stratos that Lancia produced from 1973 to 1978.
In addition to the road version of New Stratos, the companies signed an agreement according to which New Stratos will make in versions for “rally-raid” and circular races.
The technical data is very stagnant for now, but the key people of the project announce that the centrally positioned engine will offer more than 550 horsepower, which, with a small weight and adequate reliance will offer to the driver of the New Stratos the experience which on the narrow and curving roads today can not offer any supersport car.
Lancia Stratos
Conceptual New Stratos was based on the shortened platform of Ferrari’s F430 Scuderia model from which it was also “borrowed” and the 4.3 liter atmospheric V8 engine, but due to disagreement from Maranello and the refusal of Pininfarina to work on the car body without the consent of Ferrari, the 2011 project ended on hold.
Waiting is finally over. New Stratos will be presented to all audiences at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, and all technical details and prices will be known at that time.
