Last month at the NAIAS Motor Show in Detroit Mercedes officially promoted the long-awaited new G class, while the upcoming Geneva show will be used to display his AMG version.
Just to remind, the G class has undergone the most significant changes in its four decades of existence, in order to provide greater comfort and modern technology, but without reducing its field skills. The G class for 2018 is therefore lighter (-170 kg), longer and wider than the old model, while retaining a recognizable cube shape.
Significant changes have also been applied on the interior where, with a stylish look and more modern technology, should mention more places for back passengers (+ 150 mm for legs).

Also, passengers on the front seats have 38 mm more space in the shoulder area, and behind the rear 27 mm. Especially worth mentioning is the digital instrument panel, Burmester-Surround-Sound system with 16 speakers, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as new seats (front with heaters, cooling and massage function).
Mercedes says that the new G class “impresses with its performance in all conditions” and that it has “top systems of safety and comfort assistance”. Also, the vehicle is “fantastically manageable”, ie in the new generation it is all raised to an even higher level.
Last month, the G500 version of the 4.0-liter V8 with 422 hp and 610 Nm (in combination with the new 9G TRONIC gearbox) was shown in Detroit, while in Geneva, the audience will be able to see this new Mercedes-AMG G63.
All of the above changes for the regular version apply to the AMG G63 variant.
Mercedes-AMG G63
New Mercedes-AMG G63 will be powered by the 4.0-liter V8 engine of 430 kW / 585 hp (coupled with the AMG Speedshift TCT Transmission), so the acceleration from 0 to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h) takes only 4, 4 seconds (almost a second better than the predecessor).
Mercedes will also offer an exclusive Edition 1 version, with black exterior, matte gray and red accents, as well as AMG Night package (darkened lights and glass, black 22-inch wheels).
The sale of the new Mercedes-AMG G63 will start later this year, and prices will be announced later.
