White spring at 1850 m altitude, the world of golf invites itself for a tournament on the snowy whites of Val d’Isère. This winter, the BMW Val d’Isère Winter Golf Cup celebrates its 6th edition. The programme over four days is made up of amateur competitions, street golf, and – for this sixth edition – a day of Winter Golf presented by Ryder Cup 2018 & BMW.
Philippe Guilhem, a fanatical golfer, skier and general lover of the great outdoors launched the first Winter Golf Cup in Megève back in 2000. This golf competition on snow first spread to Val d’Isère in March 2013 in the majestic setting of the Manchet Valley.
The concept is simple enough : get amateur golfers together for a fun competition with lunches and dinners in the convivial atmosphere generated by winter sports. Sponsored each year by BMW, the Winter Golf Cup brings together professional players, celebrities, and a whole group of people who are passionate about the game.
With six months to go before the Ryder Cup 2018 gets underway in France, the European team captain Thomas Bjørn is going to be present for this high altitude event.
Programme for the Ryder Cup : a golf competition on snow over nine holes in the Manchet Valley with representatives of the Ryder Cup 2018. Thomas Bjørn will tee off from the Face de Bellevarde (the Olympic downhill course) as a follow up to the drives from the Eiffel Tower last October by the two team captains to mark one year to go.
A tournament of two rounds of four-ball golf over nine holes, taking place over two days for teams of two players. They are allowed to use six clubs, plus putter. Participation includes lunches, dinners and gifts – a great opportunity to discover the joys of golf on snow in the beautiful setting of the Manchet Valley.
