The most expensive chocolate bonbon in the world, called “Glorious”, went on display in Óbidos, Portugal last week at the International Chocolate Festival.
The diamond-shaped chocolate costs €7,728 ($9,489) and is coated with 23-carat edible gold.
Created by Portuguese chocolatier Daniel Gomes, this priceless bonbon has a filling of saffron threads, white truffle, vanilla from Madagascar and gold flakes. No, wonder why it was guarded by two uniformed men.

Certified as the world’s most expensive by the Guinness Book of Records, Glorious comes wrapped in a black lacquered wooden base with gold serial number engraving and a crystal cloche, it’s home will be adorned with 5,500 Swarovski crystals and pearls and a gold ribbon handle. The chocolate will further arrive at its buyer’s home under top notch ‘security and conservation’ measures, as promised by its makers.
