TAG Heuer introduces another watch that was created as a result of long-term cooperation, partnership and race heritage – Monaco Gulf 2018 special edition.
This is a watch with distinctive racing colors, with the logo of an oil company – sponsore of Steve McQueen in Le Mans.
The two legendary brands in the world of automotive have formalized their community by consolidating the past and present. With its distinctive blue-orange stamps, Gulf is a well-known player in the automotive industry for more than 115 years.
Quality, endurance and passion are key words of the company; proven by their history of innovation, inventions and continuous development.
Gulf was the first company to drill oil under the sea, and in 1913 it became the world’s first to open a gas station. By sharing the same value, the Swiss watch brand TAG Heuer and the Gulf company collaborated many times and perhaps the most famous collaboration is one from 1971 while shooting Le Mans when Steve McQueen wore Heuer Monaco on his wrist while driving the Porsche 917 with the Gulf logo.
TAG Heuer and Gulf share passion, and this is the basis for the great things to come from, starting with the new edition of the Monaco Special Edition Gulf Caliber 11, the watch with racing colors and logo of this oil company that was presented at the current Geneva Motor Show.
The watch Heuer Monaco, which first saw the light on March 3, 1969 in Geneva and New York, was actually the first quarterly waterproof automatic chronograph in the history of Swiss watchmaking. Also, the colors of this iconic brand reflected on the design of the new special edition of Monaco Caliber 11 Gulf.
The watch has a 39 mm diameter case, a left-hand crown, a legendary petroleum blue counter with two white counters, a date display at 6 o’clock, a diamond-polished horizontal clock index, a vintage Heuer logo, a caliber 11 automatic chronograph with date and water resistance up to 100 m depth.
As a reminder of his origins and sports pedigree, the dial is now blue and orange squares of famous Gulf known racing colors. The Gulf logo also appears at the 6-hour position.
The three-piece steel watch case is provided with four screws, it has two push buttons at the position 2 and 4 hours, slightly thinner lungs, sapphire crystal as well as the open rear side of the casing through which caliber gears are visible.
The watch is complemented by an extraordinary blue strap of the finest calfskin with orange stitch, which is another association on the Gulf logo.
This watch is a beautiful interpretation of the iconic race heritage and TAG Heuer manufacture stationed in La-Chaux-de-Fonds, and will delight all car enthusiasts.
