Ferrari has produced more than 13,000 pieces of the 308 model, but the one that will soon be on auction in Monaco has an interesting history.
The reason lies in the fact that this 1978 Ferrari 308 GTS was the automobile of Gilles Villeneuve, a Canadian F1 driver who debuted in the Ferrari team in 1977.
From his home in Monte Carlo to Ferrari’s factory in Maranello (about 435 km), Gilles arrived in just two and a half hours.

After Villeneuve died on May 8, 1982 on qualifications during the Belgian Grand Prix, 308 GTS was returned to the factory. Two years later, the car was sold to a new owner from Modena, whose wife drove it until 2010, when it finished in Denmark. Two years later, this 308 GTS also participated in a special exhibition at the factory museum in Maranello.

The car has so far crossed nearly 37,000 km, and it remains to wait for the RM Sotheby’s auction that will be held next month and find out which amount the new owner is wiling to pay.
