Japanese design studio Nendo, along with the Bunaco brand, has introduced a wireless transparent speaker that uses a spiral wrap of beech wood to function.
The tail of the thin tape turns around the small speaker, which then closes inside the acrylic cylinder to highlight the design. “The clear base makes it possible to see the unfinished edge that is left curling from the bottom, enabling users to intuitively understand the speaker’s structure as well as the craftsmanship invested in its production,” said Nendo.

The Japanese company Bunaco was founded in the mid-fifties of the last century and is known for its classic hand-made lamps, bowls and accessories thanks to the abundance of beech growing in the Aomori prefecture in Japan.
Beechwood is used to exploit quality sound absorption to produce a “uniquely clear and gentle tone”.

The result is a comprehensive speaker with vertical standing diaphragm. The minimalistic design and traditional technique used to create this product is a process that Nendo usually strives for.
The end result is an organic visual experience that almost radiates life through hand-made beech wood spirals, providing a visual display that is as beautiful as the music it emits.
