Campari Group (Gruppo Campari), the makers of the classic Italiano liqueur and aperitif, have just launched their first gin.
The small-batch gin is made in Italy using fresh basil from Liguria and other high-quality Mediterranean botanicals including citrus from southern Italy.
The combination of 19 botanicals including juniper is said to result in a refreshing, herbaceous flavour, bottled at 45% ABV. The variety of basil is Grande Verde di Genova which is known for its sweetness and vibrant colour.
O’ndina is recommended served in a gin and Mediterranean tonic, a Negroni, neat or over ice.
Bob Kunze-Concewitz, Chief Executive Officer of Gruppo Campari, noted at the time: ‘We are very pleased to initiate the acquisition of Bulldog Gin which we have successfully been distributing since 2014. This deal is an opportunity to consolidate our presence as a key player in the attractive super premium gin category via a super-premium brand with significant growth potential.”
