Floating bungalows last year were the most common choice of tourists when it comes to Maldives. However, this tourist place gets a new attraction. By the end of this year, the first underwater villa on the island of Rangali will be opened. The residence will be called Muraka, which means the coral in the Divehi (Maldivian language). The building is designed to fully fit into the underwater environment allowing guests to be part of the underwater world.
“Inspired by the desire to provide innovative experiences to tourists, the first underwater residency in the world gives guests the opportunity to explore the Maldives from a brand new perspective beneath the sea surface,” says Crown chief executive, designer Ahmed Saleem.
Muraka
The building consists of two levels, one above the surface of the sea and one below the surface. The underwater level is equipped with a bedroom with a large bed, a living room, a bathroom and a spiral staircase leading to the upper level.
The upper level consists of a double room, a bathroom, a gym, a butler room, a private security room, a common living room, a kitchen, a bar, a dining room and a deck from which you can view the sunset. The villa can accommodate a total of nine guests, at a price of $50,000 per night, before taxes.
