For the first time ever, a legendary piano manufacturer conveniently called Kawai (cute in Japanese), is participating in Milan Design Week with with an installation that showcases a new approach to instrument design.
Crystal Rain is a light and sound installation developed by creation partner and light artist Takahiro Matsuo, featuring the Kawai crystal grand piano instrument, which draws upon Kawai’s 90+ years of expertise in crafting the world’s finest pianos.
This stunning instrument floats upon undulating waves of water, with sparkling droplets of light raining down into the space surrounding the piano as each note is played.
An enchanting, dream-like space, where piano, art, and technology merge, Crystal Rain creates an intimate performance and listening environment that transcends the rigid boundaries commonly associated with the musical instrument industry.
