Swiss watchmaker and fine jeweller Bucherer has teamed up with Harley-Davidson to create a one-of-a-kind motorcycle studded with diamonds worth nearly $2,000,000.
The bike created to celebrate Bucherer’s Blue Edition collection which draws on the house’s extensive network beyond the worlds of watches and jewellery is reportedly the most expensive new bike in the world, clocking in at $1.79 million.
Based on a Harley-Davidson Softail Slim S, but with a complete makeover, it incorporates expert engineering with every metal element welded, beaten, ground and polished by hand. Other unique elements include a visible camshaft, valve control and throttle all valves all lit by heat-resistant LED lighting – making the Harley-Davidson Blue Edition the world’s first motorbike to have a motor lit from the inside.
The bike’s strikingly iridescent blue hue is the result of six layers of color coating applied to silver-plated metal. There are 360 diamonds and gold-plated screws integrated into the tank, which contains a one-of-a-kind Bucherer timepiece that features elements of a motorcycle engine on its dial.
Bucherer jewelry also adorns hand grips, and there is a 5.40-carat diamond secured in an armored glass dome on the body. Just in case this thing wasn’t already flashy enough.
All in all, this one-of-a-kind bike took a team of eight craftsman more than 2,500 hours to complete the limited-edition line.
