When the name Talbot-Lago names mentioned in certain circles, we become witnesses more than impressed reactions.
After all, the French manufacturer has created some of the most beautiful creations on the wheels in the art deco era, along with Bugatti. However, the copy you see, it promises to point out from the rest of the model, even in the setting of such a rare and sophisticated company.
This is the 1948 Talbot-Lago T26 Record Sport car, for which body was in charge the brand Saoutchik, one of the most famous of that time.

Although the model is not as iconic as the cabrio coupés created by Figoni & Falasch in the pre-war era, this T26 is a legend in every sense. The car owns a six-cylinder engine in a plane, volume of 4.5 liters, and is mostly created as a sedan, with two or four doors. The sporting model that followed had a somewhat shorter chassis and more power, that is, about 195 hp.
For comparison purposes, the Ferrari 166, introduced the same year as a completely different model, had a V12 engine, however, this engine had half the capacity and could not offer more than 140 hp.

The Jaguar XK120 also came out on the market in 1948, and initially offered 160 hp. Therefore, the T26 is a much more powerful car.
This special model was presented at the 1950 Paris Motor Show, where it won the prestigious Grand Prix du Salon Award. After Paris, this model completely disappeared from the face of the earth and no one was on the trail, a good part of the last quarter of the last century. One Nevada collector discovered it in a barn and in perfect condition.

The current owner of the model completely restored it and returned its old glory, without excessive costs.
The car is currently on the list of Bonhams, which will auction it at its Quail Lodge event in Monterey during this August.
