Few weeks ago 250 GTO Series 1 chassis number 4153 GT “Christian Glaesel” was sold privately to WeatherTech David MacNeil for €68 million. Recall, until then the record was €52 million, which one collector splashed out for Ferrari 250 GTO.
Although many thought the new record would not be broken for a long time, RM Sotheby’s auction house has announced that it will offer Ferrari 250 GTO from 1962 at an auction in Monterey at the end of August at a starting price of €38.84 million.

This is the highest starting price in the category of cars offered at the auction. We know that Monterey gather a huge number of collectors each year, so it is assumed that by competing with a few battered fans, the amount will increase significantly, and many believe that it could overturn a new record, making it the most expensive car in the world!
A specific copy was driven on the legendary Targa Florio race, by Edoardo Lualdi-Gabardi who won the Italian GT Championship in 1962. After purchasing a new GTO, Gabardi sold this copy to Gianni Bulgari (from a family responsible for the same luxury brand name). The car was subsequently owned by several collectors, and it is interesting that it was never broken, which of course today, among other things, significantly increases its price.
