If you want to buy a car of which only six copies have been made, and even if that car has racing pedigrees, you’ll have to pull it very deep into your pocket. Rich collectors will surely assemble on October 27 at the Porsche Experience Center in Atlanta, USA at the auction of the well-known RM Sotheby’s.
More precisely, the auction of one of only six Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar manufactured will be held on that day, and the specimen that took part in this legendary race in 1985 with the multiple winner of Paris-Dakar rally, René Metge, who was behind the steering wheel (the specific car is shown on photos).

Competition Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar is naturally based on the supersport model 959 that had a four-wheel drive, powered by a 6-cylinder Twin Turbo Boxer. The racing specimen, however, is powered by an atmospheric 3.2-liter boxer from the 911 Carrera, but the car is equipped with adjustable suspension. In fact, it is a “spin” that came out of the stopped Porsche’s car development program for Group B.

Unfortunately, this particular 959 Paris-Dakar did not finish the race in 1985 due to the failure of the oil supply, but Metge celebrated in Dakar a year later, with another Porsche 959.
And, in the end, what’s most interesting. RM Sotheby’s predicts that this Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar copy will cost between 2.6 and 2.9 million euros.
