One of the greatest surprises from Chanel this year is a fascinating desk clock …
This phenomenal model was designed by a Parisian house and manufactured by clockmaker L’Epee 1839. Named Monsieur de Chanel Chronoshpere, this beautiful clock is based on an artwork that shows us the exact time, it is made of glass and it has an eye diameter fifteen centimeters.
The sphere of this clock was inspired by a rock crystal ornament in Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s apartment that was made by French jeweller Robert Goossens.
Within this incredible sphere, you will see L’Epee’s seven-day caliber 1855, an incredible mechanism with a vertical spring that brings life into every part of it.
Two tapes will show you hours and minutes in the upper part of the globe. The numbers represent Chanel’s modernist style, inspired by numbers on LCD displays of electronic watches. In the meantime, certain details of the mechanism are coated with a black PVD layer, while the gears are palladium-coated.
Elegantly monochromatic, this glass globe stands on the base of four bronze lions, created in sculptural form that reminds us of the Art Deco movement, with matte finishing details. In case you want one of these incredible clocks adorns your desk, you must know that they are produced in a limited edition of only five units, each costing about €200,000.
