50 years ago, Ford’s dealer and racer, Bob Tasca, made the first Mustang Cobra Jet. On the occasion of the anniversary of this year, Ford presented the strongest and fastest Mustang for the drag races that ever came out of the factory.
The 50th anniversary Cobra Jet is based on the sixth generation Mustang, and is powered by a 5.2 liter V8 petrol engine with a mechanical compressor.
This combination should allow Cobra Jet is capable of topping 150 mph (240 km/h) with quarter-mile runs in the mid-eight-second range. In addition to the engines, the new Cobra Jet has also received a modified rear suspension with four connections and adjustable amortizers and springs. There are also 9 “Ford’s rigid shaft from Strange Engineering, NHRA certified safety cage, Racetech FIA seats, and specially designed Weld rims with labels marking the 50th anniversary.
Price for Ford Mustang Cobra Jet is $130,000, and customers can choose between Race Red or Oxford White colors, which pay tribute to the original Cobra Jet from 1968. Also, only 68 units will be produced and the number indicates the year of the original car. The official premier will be held during the Woodward Dream Cruise event this weekend.
