Virgil Abloh can do literally everything. From designing luggage with Rimowa to customizing Nike pieces for Serena Williams, to be named artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear. The esteemed designer aims to make the most of 2018 with another standout collaboration, this time with premier French fine winery Moët & Chandon.
“They approached me saying they had an opportunity to work on a special edition of their Champagne and I thought it interesting—so I agreed,” Abloh says. “For me, Moët is the best in class, you know. It’s an authentic product with an authentic history, you know, all the elements—that usually intrigues me to think of ideas.”
The limited edition bottle contains Moët’s Nectar Imperial Rosé, which is currently the best selling rosé champagne in the U.S. This marks as Abloh’s first-ever liquor brand collaboration and it features the designer’s signature aesthetic such as his trademark quotation marks. Elements like “Do Not Drop” are highlighted on the bottle along with the disctinct “c/o” branding.
Abloh published a teaser image of the bottle on his instagram, where you can also see that behind the bottle is its packaging, consisting of a simple white box that similarly features the words ‘For Display Only’. According to reports Abloh will also create a three-liter jeroboam, which will be exclusive to Abloh’s family and friends (who include Kanye West and Rihanna). Both will be released on October 15—with the 750ml priced at $60 at Clos19 and select retailers.
