While the Americans celebrate Night of Witches, as an evening of fear and interesting fun, in Mexico is marking Dia de los Muertos – The Day of the Dead …
As a celebration of this holiday and its unofficial patron, La Santa Muerte (the saint of death), Chopard brand was created by a unique L.U.C. Perpetual T Spirit of “La Santa Muerte”. The new timepiece was presented during the first international exhibition of watches and jewelry held in Mexico from 16 to 18 October.
The timepiece is full of detail, but the first thing that attracts you is its dial, which carries Día de los Muertes–inspired Calavera skull over a handmade bottom section of 18 carat gold. Black-lacquered skulls are decorated with flower patterns and suns, while the teeth are made of mother-of-pearl. The tourbillon bridge plays the role of mustaches for the skeletal head and gives us the opportunity to enjoy the mechanism below.
In addition to the aforementioned tourbillon, this watch is powered by L.U.C. 02.15L mechanism, and is equipped with a perpetual calendar, whose sub-lines play roles of the skull’s eye. The clock has an energy reserve of nine days. It also passed COSC tests, so it fulfills the official chronometer standard.
