When it comes to luxury villas that anyone would like to call their temporary home, it’s no secret that the best of them are on the emerald shores of Lake Como …
Villa Balbiano, which can now be rented, is certainly one of them.
This villa is owned by a prosperous couple who also owns Villa Astor on the Amalfi Coast, and is about five hundred years old. Its renovation is almost complete, with Jacques Garcia working on it.
In addition, as it is offered by the prestigious Homebase Abroad agency, guests of this villa, or its temporary tenants, will be able to enjoy very interesting and unique experiences.
The French architect who worked on its renovation, is actually a visionary behind the La Mamounia project, and we can freely say that he gave her a new life and turned all of its 2,000 m2 into a space worthy of the aristocrats of the twenty-first century.
Although it is truly indescribably luxurious, as evidenced by somewhat chandeliers characterized by crystals and golden accents in every room, at its core, it is definitely refined. Restored frescoes originally ordered by Cardinal Durini fit perfectly with sofa beds and rococo antiques.
However, there are plenty of dramatic details that will stop your heart briefly. Fifteen bedrooms, six of which are located in the main villa, while others are located in the Villino and Dependece buildings, are equipped with curvaceous headboards, which, like snakes, curve towards the high ceilings. The bathrooms are dressed in black marble, and are framed by antique Asian pavements, while the indoor pool is surrounded by archways decorated with frescoes.
Although there are plenty of activities you can dedicate while on Lake Como, we will not mind if you spend at least five days inside the villa. However, here you’ll find a whole team, like a private boss, a butler and a concierge. Walking on a perfectly landscaped garden, to leaf through the first editions in the library and watching the sunset are something that will at least briefly give you the opportunity to enjoy the sweet Italian way of life.
