The first estimates say the new owner will need to splash out half a million dollars for a flawless copy of the second of the 250 produced Porsche 911 Sport Classic.
In 2010, Porsche offered to classic fans a limited edition edition of model 911 from Series 997.2. Everybody found their customers in less than 48 hours from the beginning of the sale, and one of 250 produced copies of the extremely rare Porsche 911 Sport Classic auction house RM Sotheby’s will offer at an auction that will be held on January 18 in Phoenix, Arizona.
The predecessor of Porsche’s “analog” model 911 R, Carrera T and GT3 Touring is the second of the 250 manufactured copies. It is guarded in strictly controlled climatic conditions and has only crossed over 240 kilometers.
Recognizable by the unique gray color of the body, the rear spoiler modeled on the legendary Carrer RS 2.7 from the beginning of the seventies and 19-inch black Fuchs wheels, the 911 Sport Classic is powered by a 3.8-liter, 6-cylinder 6-cylinder boxer engine from the 997 Carrera S, which in this case it develops 408 horsepower at 7,300 rpm, which is enough to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and slightly more than 300 km/h.
The transmission of power is carried out on the rear axle via the manual 6-speed transmission, and in the standard equipment the mechanical locking of the differential and the carbon-ceramic brake is limited.
RM Sotheby’s estimates that a new owner of the car whose price in 2010 was €169,300 euros in Europe, would have to allocate close to half a million dollars (more than €430,000).
