Model 250 GTO is holding a record when it comes to oldtimers sold at auctions, as it reached the price of as much as 48,405,000 dollars in Monterey in August. It turned out that this astronomical large sum of money makes it literally more valuable than gold.
Specifically, Ferrari 250 GTO has a mass of 880-950 kg, depending on the source of the information. If it takes a lower limit of 880 kg, it turns out that 1 kg of this car is worth about $55,000, while the more unfavorable variant and weight of 950 kg, the kilogram of Ferrari costs about $51,000.
On the other hand, the kilogram of gold at the beginning of January was worth “only” $41,430, making the 250 GTO more expensive than the right amount of this precious metal.
Although this is an extreme case, given that only a few oldtimer can get closer or even exceed the price of $50 million, market trends in recent years show that the value of similar classic cars is constantly growing and that many rich collectors view them as a lucrative investment.
