She was one of the greatest actresses of her time, and she was not ready to compromise in her life. The beautiful green Rolls Royce is proof of that.
Of course, we’re talking about Elizabeth Taylor and her Rolls Royce, from which she hasn’t parted within years. Moreover, considering that she used it from 1959 until the 1970’s, it was Lisa’s love that lasted the longest. Known as the Green Goddess, this car has remained preserved to this day, in perfect condition.
The car will be auctioned next month, and it is a 1960 Silver Cloud II Convertible model with just 64,000 miles. And despite the fact that such models are sold for up to $700,000, this one could be worth as much as $10 million because of such a famous owner.
Guernsey’s Auction founder Arlan Ettinger, who sells the car, says things that were owned by the famous actress are sold at five times the price. Additionally, there is the fact that it is a Green Goddess, a model that has not reached a total production of more than 20 copies.
“Unlike Elvis Presley, who would buy a car in the morning and give it to a friend in the evening, Taylor kept her Rolls Royce for 20 years and everyone associated it with her,” Arlan explains.
Taylor commissioned the green Rolls Royce in 1959 after marrying singer Eddie Fisher, and was shipped to the hotel where they lived a year later. She chose the green color because of the color of the dress she wore at her wedding. At Rolls Royce, they were happy to fulfill this desire, and they also changed the seats into leather of a specific shade of green. Fisher even managed to damage the car, and after Elizabeth finished with Richard Burton, she decided to kick Fisher, but also to keep the car. She sold it in the 1970’s to a California fan who has kept the car to this day.
