In January 1968, Warner Bros. movie studio purchased two dark-green Mustangs Fastback for Bullitt movie. The specimen, which was more in the air than in the streets of San Francisco, ended up in a wasteful role, but another happier Mustang drove by Steve McQueen remained intact and, after the movie premiere, was purchased by Robert Ross, who was working at the time at Warner Bros.

Two years later, Ross sold McQueen’s Mustang to Police Inspector Frank Marranca for $6,000, and after four years of using Marranca, sold it for the same amount to a married couple Robert and Robbie Kiernan who used and kept it until now.
Interestingly, in 1977, Steve McQueen wrote to Robert Kiernan, asking him to sell him Mustang Bullitt, but no work was realized.
Connoisseurs of the world of rare collector cars predict that the new owner for the McQueen’s Mustang with a manual transmission at the January auction to be held in Florida by the Mecum auction house will have to issue a seven-figure sum (in US dollars).
