The extremely rare McLaren F1 LM got a new owner after the auction, and was sold for a multimillion-dollar amount.
It is the most expensive McLaren F1 of all time, which sold for $ 19.8 million. The car, however, remained “short” by just over three million, because before the auction it was estimated that the new owner could spend $23 million.

The car was auctioned off at RM Sotheby’s and attracted a lot of attention by coming to the podium. The auction lasted four minutes and the new buyer is a private collector living in the US and will no doubt enjoy one of only two McLaren F1 that McLaren has just restructured to LM specifications. That means it got a downforce package that changed the front of the car and added vents above the front wheels as well as a spoiler back. Its 6.1 liter V12 engine is unblocked and develops 680 hp instead of 627 hp.

In addition to the LM enhancements, the former owner sent the car back to McLaren’s UK base in 2000 to get better lights, adjustable suspension, 18-inch rims, radio and new paint.
The car was also in Singapore and then in New Zealand. It was driven there at least once a month by amateur rider Andrew Bagnell, and McLaren traveled 21,488 km.
