Today, Porsche has officially revealed to the press the serial version of their first electric model, the Taycan, while the general public will be able to get to know it more closely next week at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The Germans said earlier that more than 30,000 people had ordered Taycan, with a deposit of 2,500 euros. Also, a large number of interested people are people who have not owned any of the Porsche models so far.
It should also be recalled that this car was announced a few years ago by the Mission E concept.
Taycan (which should normally mean “lively, young horse”) will initially be available in Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S versions.
Taycan Turbo has 680hp and 850Nm and Taycan Turbo S comes with 761hp and 1050Nm of torque (all figures apply to Overboost since both models come with 625hp as standard).
That’s enough for Taycan Turbo to arrives from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and Taycan Turbo S in just 2.8 seconds (here’s the data that the Taycan Turbo S accelerates to 9.8 s in 200 km/h) . As far as top speed is concerned, it is el. limited to 260 km/h.
Taycan Turbo has 20-inch wheels (tires 245/45 R 20 and 285/40 R 20) and Taycan Turbo S has 21 inches (tires 265/35 ZR 21 and 305/30 ZR 21).
Even before today’s official premiere, Porsche announced that Taycan crossed the Nürburgring track in 7 minutes and 42 seconds, a new record for four-door electric vehicles.
Autonomy with one charge of 93.4 kWh lithium-ion battery at Taycana Turbo is 450 km, and at Taycana Turbo S it is 412 km (all according to WLTP standards).
The news also points out that the batteries on the 800-volt chargers will be charged enough for a ride of about 100 km in about 5 minutes.
The package also includes PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management), PDCC (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control) and PTV (Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus) systems, as well as a 16.8-inch dashboard, a 10.9-inch touchscreen and a smaller 8.4-inch the panel located lower on the center console.
Porsche also states that Taycan’s infotainment system will have a fully integrated version of the Apple Music streaming service.
Along with the standard Taycan, the Taycan Cross Turismo will later arrive, both of which will be manufactured at the Cufenhausen factory, in a series of about 40,000 copies a year.
Finally, the prices: Taycan Turbo in Germany costs €152,136 and Taycan Turbo S €185,456.
