Montblanc’s latest line of pens which pays homage to individuals who have left an indelible mark on history is dedicated to Walt Disney, the American filmmaker, entrepreneur and innovator who created many unforgettable characters, including the beloved Mickey Mouse. Great Characters Limited Edition Walt Disney is crated in collaboration with The Walt Disney Company and includes special edition pens, rollerball, fountain pen, ballpoint pen, notebook and ink bottle.

The shape of the Great Characters Walt Disney Special Edition is inspired by the monorail at Disneyland Park. The pen’s clip is a nod to the smoke stack on the steamboat in Steamboat Willie, Disney’s first animated short film starring Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse. The black, red and yellow color combination of the writing instrument reflects the traditionally associated colors that represent Mickey. The precious resin cap and barrel are decorated with various “Hidden Mickeys”, and is inspired by the unofficial phenomenon where fans hunt for the silhouette of the character hidden throughout Disney Parks, properties, and resorts around the globe. The coordinates on the cone are a reference to the location of Walt Disney’s uncle’s garage in Los Angeles, California, where he made various inventions including the innovative camera stand he constructed with his brother. The Au 585 solid gold rhodium-coated nib of the Special Edition features a drawing of Mickey Mouse, while the cap top features the engraved signature of Walt Disney.
With a limitation number commemorating the year of Walt Disney’s birth, the Great Characters Walt Disney Limited Edition 1901 is garnished with the Multiplane camera in lacquer on the cap. The barrel features a scanimation, a flickering Mickey Mouse animation that appears and disappears when the upper tube is rotated. The engravings on the cone pay tribute to the release of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Disney’s first full-length animated feature film, with its technical specifications (1.33:1, 83 MIN) and the date and place of the world premiere (21/12/1937, LA). The Au 750 solid gold rhodium-coated nib is decorated with an image of Mickey Mouse that was featured in the opening credits of early Disney animated films.
