Award-winning singer-songwriter and producer Farrell Williams is a longtime fan of the Richard Mille brand …
Back in 2006, he honored the brand for the first time with his song “Can I Have It Like That”. Now, he’s finally rewarded with his own Richard Mille model, which has been described as the watch of his dreams. The watch is directly inspired by one of his dreams – a vision of an astronaut on Mars looking toward Earth.
Called the RM 52-05 Tourbillon by Pharrel Williams, this limited edition model is designed in a typical Richard Mille saddle: it has a tonneau case and is made from very exotic materials. Valuable materials used for this watch include red gold, cermet (a combination of ceramic and metal), white gold decorated with diamonds and titanium.
“I have always been fascinated by the view of the sky. What can inspire you more than anything that has ever existed and is yet to come? The Universe, before your eyes. At your disposal. He existed here before Earth, before the solar system. It will be here long after us and nothing is more significant than that.”
This space-themed edition has one of the most ornamental dials – the cosmic scene presented on it depicts the reflection of Earth, along with the surface of Mars seen on the helmet’s visor of an astronaut.
Each dial is made for fifteen hours, with an engraver, an enamelist and a painter working on it.
When it comes to technical specifications, the special edition received the highest wind turbine mechanism, rotating spring and energy reserve for 42 hours, among others. Limited to just 30 pieces, the RM 52-05 Tourbillon Pharrell Williams will cost you $969,000.
