Carapace is a 78-meter-long ultra-luxury yacht which looks like it has come straight out of a James Bond movie. This extravagant hybrid vessel can travel on both the surface of the sea and underwater. It submerges to a depth of 985 feet for up to 10 days at a time, offering amazing views of marine life.
Dreamed up by Italian-based naval architect Elena Nappi, Carapace yacht is designed for both private and public markets. Its interior offers top-notch amenities such as a VIP cabin, lodge, spa, bar and gym on three deck levels. The company working on the development of this ship says it is designed to accommodate passengers with reduced mobility.
“The world of luxury submarines is one of the last frontiers in the field of experimentation, and perhaps the hybrid will be the language of the future,” Nappi says in a statement.
“Very often yacht owners are looking for original solutions to be able to offer their friends and their family something special, and certainly that of a diving cruise of this type is something unprecedented in the super yacht market.”
Although there is no indication of a price as yet, it is thought the vessel will set buyers back some hundreds of millions.
