SSC North America finally unveiled the definitive, production Tuatara supercar at the Philadelphia Motor Show, a specimen that has its owner.
The car was named after a lizard from New Zealand, while for its look was in charge designer Jason Castriota.
Tuatara has a 5.9 liter twin-turbo V8 engine with 1350hp (or 1750hp on E85 fuel), so acceleration from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) is expected to be around 2.5 seconds.
Company founder Jerod Shelby otherwise believes that the Tuatara can reach a top speed of 300 mph (483 km/h).
This 1247 kg car (thanks to its carbon fiber body and wheels) has a CIMA seven-speed automatic transmission and a drag coefficient of 0.279.
As for the dimensions, Tuatara is 442 cm long, 200 cm wide, 110 cm high, 267 cm in wheelbase, and 20 inches (wheels Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 245/35 front and 345/25 rear).
Lastly, a limited edition production of only 100 copies is planned.
