Spyker C8 Laviolette is one of the most unique supercars, and now one such rare Dutch car is available for sale.
For those who don’t know, Spyker is a small car manufacturer based in the Netherlands, named after a Dutch aircraft manufacturer who closed its doors in the 1920s.
Spyker C8 is offered at Bring a Trailer Auction and is a fresh approach to the famous car formula. The company was revived in 2000 with the launch of the C8 Spyder concept at the Birmingham trade show.
The C8 Spyder was a roofless handmade supercar that attracted enormous attention with its details and the Audi V8 engine that powered it. Spyker then introduced the C8 Laviolette in 2001, adding a glass roof and an aluminum rooftop vacuum cleaner to create the company’s first coupe.
In addition, Spyker also produced a racing version of the C8 Laviolette called the Double 12 R, which participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003. Spyker then returned to Le Man in 2009 with the more advanced C8 Laviolette GT2R, which finished fifth in the GT class, a huge result for such a small supercar manufacturer.
In addition to its racing heritage, the Spyker C8 Laviolette is one of the biggest masterpieces when it comes to cars. All components are handcrafted and inspired by aviation, including the all-aluminum construction of the C8. The interior is also inspired by planes, and this is especially true of the instrument panel.
The auction ends in nine days and the current price is $125,000. The car was manufactured in 2007.
