GV80 is the first production SUV from Genesis, but is also the first model which boast world’s first 3D instrument display.
What makes the 3D display technology developed by Continental unique is autostereoscopic 3D technology, called glass-free 3D technology. Thanks to this technology, you do not have to use additional glasses to view 3D images. Continental used a technology called parallax barrier so that the 3D display screen can be used without glasses.

This technology divide the image into two different, slightly offset views, creating a 3D image. For a more precise adjustment of this image, the system uses an interior camera that detects the driver’s field of vision.
The camera also detects whether the driver is focusing too much on the instrument cluster. If this happens, the camera alerts the driver; further, it identifies potential moments of distraction or fatigue.
Another technology to be used in Genesis GV80 is “Cross-Domain Hub” technology, which allows sharing of content between the vehicle’s screens. With this technology, the driver can also share content seen on one screen with other screens in the vehicle. Thanks to this technology, the driver will also be able to show the navigation image displayed on the instrument panel on the front passenger display.
In addition to that, Continental also announced that it is also working on a more advanced version of the 3D display in partnership with California-based holographic tech company Leia. The display does not require a camera and can be seen by all occupants in the car.
