Monaco is best known as a playground of the rich and famous – with nearly one in every three residents a millionaire. The French Riviera jewel is anticipating a housing boom through an influx of millionaires and billionaires seeking escape from higher taxes, and soon it could be the home to what could become the world’s most expensive apartment. “Sky Penthouse” atop the nearly finished Odeon Tower, an apartment that was expected just last year to sell for perhaps a quarter-billion dollars, could now sell for $400 million when it goes on the market next year.
The 3,300 square metre apartment is scheduled for completion in 2015. Spread over five floors, the penthouse property will include, among other things, a kitchen on each floor (connected by a lift), five bedrooms, a living-room, dining-room, private home-cinema, sauna and a water slide connecting a dance floor to a circular open-air swimming pool.
The penthouse perches at a dazzling 557 ft above in the Mediterranean coastline’s second tallest building. The tower will house 70 luxury apartments total ranging from 1 to 6 bedrooms. It promises future residents the “five-star experience” with a 24/7 concierge, an entertainment area (with private movie room and lounge ) and a “wellness centre”, including a gym, sauna, private spas and a selection of pools.
