During the 2013, the Porsche Design Group (Porsche Lizenz- und Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG) had consistently applied its global expansion strategy, which resulted with 50 new premises. The luxury brand now boasts 152 stores around the world. “With the multitude of new stores, we are once again demonstrating the positive development in sales of our luxury brand, Porsche Design”, explains Juergen Gessler, CEO of the Porsche Design Group. “After exceptionally strong growth in 2012, we are especially pleased that we have generated double-digit growth for a second year. Over the past year, we have considerably increased our brand visibility in inner city shopping areas and at airports in international metropolises such as Hong Kong, London and Los Angeles. The new German sites in Stuttgart and Kö-Bogen, Duesseldorf, represent important milestones for us, too.”
One of the highlights of the past year was opening the 345-square metre store on Brompton Road in the Knightsbridge district (one of the finest shopping locations in London) and the 170-square metre store in Kö-Bogen on Königsallee in Duesseldorf (the distinctive building complex designed by renowned architect, Daniel Libeskind).
To enable continued growth, the company is set to increase its global activity during this year: The opening of a new flagship store in Milan, Italy, in spring 2014 will see Porsche Design represented in one of the world’s most desirable business locations, in the most important fashion capital of Europe. In addition, a new store concept that has already been rolled out successfully in London, Duesseldorf and Stuttgart will be implemented in all new stores and in many of the existing stores.
Established in 1972 by Professor Ferdinand Alexander Porsche all the brand’s products are created at the Porsche Design Studio in Zell am See, Austria, and sold around the world in their own stores, as well as in franchises, concessions, high-end department stores, exclusive specialist stores and the official online store.
