Ralph Lauren’s Polo Tech shirt, unveiled at the 2014 US Open is finally available to the masses. The high-performance, fashion-forward Polo Tech shirt that delivers active biometrics through a worn garment was made with the help of Canadian tech firm Omsignal. The Ralph Lauren Polo Tech shirt features sensors knitted into the core of the product to read biological and physiological information.
Data collected from the shirt includes everything from heart rate, respiration stress levels to intensity of movement, direction and calories burned. This information is stored in a ‘black box’ attached to the shirt and then monitored on a smartphone or tablet.
With Ralph Lauren’s leadership in the design community, the compression shirt also has a sleek look in black with a signature yellow Polo Player logo. The second-skin fit enhances comfort and agility.
The shirt, which will retail for $295, will be available for purchase from August 27 online and in stores via Polo Ralph Lauren’s global flagship in New York City and at its US Open outlet on the grounds of the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, where there will be daily demonstrations.
