Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Benjamin Garcia Saxe has designed ‘Casa Flotanta’, a family home located in Puntarenas, Costa Rica. This unique new modern tropical home offers a unique living experience floating above the canopy of the jungle, totally surrounded by nature. The house is created out of modules that are repetitive and linked by flying bridges that hover over the landscape.

The three cabins that make up the residence are arranged in a staggered formation to maintain sight lines towards the ocean from each room and from a linking corridor at the rear of the property. the main living space is a huge open plan space with a solid teak dining table to seat 8 people. The gourmet chefs kitchen with a central island containing the large oven and gas cooker faces the expansive view to ensure an awesome view whilst preparing delicious meals. There are also comfortable teak high stools for the breakfast bar.

The Floating House has recently been featured in several design and architectural magazines including Inhabitat, Dezeen, Design Boom, World Architecture News and Su Casa Magazine, and was shortlisted for ‘house of the year award 2014’ by The World Architecture News Awards (WAN).
