Andy Warhol’s iconic Campbell’s Soup Box (Chicken Rice), 1986, is expected to bring in excess of $150,000 when Heritage Auctions sells it at auction for the first time in nearly 30 years in its Modern & Contemporary Art Auction, Part II on November 14 in Dallas. “Campbell’s Soup Box is one of 32 Andy Warhol works which will be offered in their Fall Modern & Contemporary Art auction. “We set a world record during Part I of our auction, when Endangered Species, 1983, sold for $725,000 October 28 and we expect robust bidding on this equally emblematic painting,” said Frank Hettig, Director of Modern & Contemporary Art at Heritage Auctions.

Among the Warhol artworks being offered is Shoes, 1980, a screenprint in colors with diamond dust, from a total edition of 60 (est. $70,000 – $90,000). Rebel without a Cause (James Dean), a 1985 screenprint featuring Dean in his signature leather jacket and blue jeans (est. $60,000+) and Chanel, 1985 (est. $60,000+) are both form the artist’s Ads Series. Tony Cragg’s Outlook, 2008 , leads the auction’s selection of modern sculpture (est. $80,000 – $120,000), which includes Melancholy, 1928-1930, by Jacques Lipchitz (est. $80,000 – $120,000).

Other notable works at the auction include a curated selection of 17 Picasso ceramic lots, highlighted by Tarasque, 1954, an early example of Picasso’s ceramic endeavors (est. $20,000 – $30,000) and Visage au Nez Noir, 1969, a partially glazed earthenware pitcher. The afternoon session closes with a selection of coveted Andy Warhol prints, his Trial Proof and Unique Prints, featuring The Shadow (from Myths), 1981, his unique self-portrait, and Uncle Sam (from Myths), 1981.
