Over the last hundred years, some of the world’s most talented designers and artists have worked with Steinway & Sons to create a wide repertoire of unique, striking pianos. The latest extraordinary and creative collaboration between Steinway and Lalique resulted with new piano – Heliconia. This two outstanding luxury brands, each committed to the highest quality and craftsmanship also share quest for perfection.

The challenge was to create an instrument which would unite the qualities and characteristics of Steinway & Sons with those of Lalique. The designers therefore opted to work with a signature motif from the Lalique archives: the Heliconia flower, originally created by Marie-Claude Lalique, granddaughter of René Lalique. The 75 Lalique crystals that decorate each piano are all pressed, fashioned, cut, engraved, polished and signed at the Lalique factory in Alsace; each crystal is then carefully placed on every individual piano at the Steinway factory in Hamburg.

The design of the Heliconia flower is a combination of crystals and metal incrustations and can be found on the lid, the legs and the case of the piano.
The result is a beautiful piece of art, which showcases Lalique’s signature of contrasting clear and frosted crystal finishes.

Each grand piano is fitted with a special plaque on the inside of the housing, which can be personalised if desired.
The grand pianos are available in sizes O-180, A-188 and B-211. As well as the standard black or white finishes, special requests are also possible, such as the use of high-quality veneers or additional colours.
