To celebrate the 85th anniversary of the iconic Reverso, the famed shoe designer incorporated his signature aesthetic: “My work is rooted in femininity, and [in this project] I never lost the vision that I should keep this very feminine side.” Guided by his imagination, Christian Louboutin gave free rein to his inherent inventiveness in exalting the beauty of this emblematic watch and revealing new aspects of its personality. Sticky tape, glue, pencils, material samples, Christian Louboutin literally seems to think with his hands.
He combines colors and materials with an artist’s instinctive flair and sees immediately if the result is right. His travels nurture his creativity more than any other factor. Just as bright, vibrant, iridescent, and shimmering colors are juxtaposed in his creations, the latter also showcases the intersection of different worlds: covered galleries of Paris, carved wood lattice work of North Africa, oriental stones, to name a few. For certain models, the designer has also drawn his inspiration from the universe of his shoe collections.
Each Reverso seen by Christian Louboutin reveals an unexpected aspect of the watch that plays with classical design codes while respecting its identity. There’s a surprise with each piece that is launched.
For Christian Louboutin, a watch is inseparable from its strap, as these two elements form a whole. Thus, the creator has envisaged the Reverso models in the same way that one creates a jewelry collection, by giving each one a strong, original identity.
Exuberant, transparent, glowing, or ultra-feminine, the Reverso is clothed, as if for an exceptional event or an evening that promises to be unforgettable. Available in two sizes, the Reverso Classic Duetto, chosen for this transformation, retains its emblematic face on the front, with pure, classical Art Deco lines, while the back, framed by two rows of diamonds on either side of the dial, takes on a delightfully crazy touch infused by Christian Louboutin.
